What We Believe!
Scripture
GPC teaches that “all Scripture is inspired by God” (II Timothy 3:16) and that “the word of God is living and active” (Hebrews 4:12). All of our beliefs and practices are founded upon God’s inspired, inerrant, and powerful Word.
Jesus
The Bible teaches that “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The Lord God made you. Jesus, His only Son, offered Himself to save you from your sin and death. “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
Holy Spirit
John the Baptist said that Jesus would “baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire” (Matthew 3:11). The Holy Spirit is the believer’s companion, comfort, guide and more; He is the source of divine power and personal holiness! It is the gift of the Holy Spirit that empowered Jesus’ to promise, “he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do” (John 14:12). Receiving the Holy Spirit into your life is as simple as asking God to give His Spirit to you. Jesus said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Luke 11:13).
Worship
Worship at GPC is spirited and enthusiastic (Ps 100)! The Bible encourages God’s people to worship with songs, lifted hands, clapping hands, dance, bended knees – with all our strength. God is enthroned on the praises of His people. He shares His Glorious Presence with us when we worship! In 1 Corinthians we learn that worship includes words of prophesy, speaking in tongues and interpretation, healings and miracles, and manifestations of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
Healing
The Old Testament prophet, looking ahead to the Messiah, proclaimed “Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried…by His scourging we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5). Therefore, Jesus sent out His disciples saying, “As you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give” (Matthew 10:7-8). Jesus has carried our sickness on His own body so that we may receive divine healing. He has given us power and authority to carry on the ministry of healing. Jesus taught,
“These signs will accompany those who have believed…they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18).
Prayer
The Scriptures tell us that people everywhere are to “pray, lifting up holy hands” (I Timothy 2:8). The Bible clearly teaches us to persistently and passionately carry our deepest needs and concerns to the Lord. We do not doubt His love; we believe what Jesus has promised! “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you” (Mark 11:24).
